IF: Tales and Legends

To tell you the truth, I am so shocked that my piece was chosen as the pick of the week. Thanks everyone for the amazing comments. BUT... that's not what this post is all about. This piece is originally a class project. The woman shown in the dress is Elizabeth Bathory. If you are a history buff you should know who she was. She was one of the first woman serial killers. The LEGEND is that she would kill young women whom were virgins and would bath in their blood and drink it because she thought that she would remain beautiful. That part probably isn't true but she did kill them none the less. Anyways, she was tried and was found guilty. She was locked in her tower and remained their for the rest of her life. Pretty gory, huh?

Oooh, very creepy! You've captured the essence of that creepiness in your illo. I love the use of b/w to give it that feeling. Very interesting take.

That's quite a story. Hadn't heard that one. But the piece matches the feeling of the story perfectly! Thanks for you comments on my blog. :)

disturbing but excellent illustration, I had a fascination for this kind of subject many years ago and her story was among the most horrifying in its cold bloodedness

I enjoyed the ghoulish tale and the illustration is great--I like the little blush of colour.

Congratulations on being 'pick of the week'!

Ah, the Blood Countess ... scary lady. There's a sense of spine-chilling element in your illustration. Beautifully done :)
